Labor Day Fun

For Labor Day this year, I thought we'd try our hand at the Central Park Zoo.  I've never been because Carter hasn't shown a lot of interest in animals, but lately he made some comments that made me think now is the time.

We stopped at a carousel on the way to the zoo for a quick impromptu ride.  Carter and Daddy had a fun time going around and posing for me while, Jonah just hung out and continued to be awesome.

Once we got to the zoo, we headed straight for the sea lion show and caught just the end of it.  We quickly made our way through the regular zoo.  My suspensions were confirmed when none of the animals were able to hold Carter's attention for more than a few minutes.
However, there is a children's petting zoo that is part of the regular zoo and we had much more success there.  Carter found lots of fun things to crawl in and around.

When it came to feeding the animals, Carter had his reservations, but Jonah did not. He kept teasing the goats by closing his hand, so they couldn't get the pellet.  He just kept laughing as the goat was licking his hand.  We had to pry it open for the poor goat!

We ended the day with a waffle from the waffle cart. It seems as if we are finally figuring out how to have a family adventure that is more fun than tears!

Fun outing! We took Jordan and his 4.5yr old cousin to the zoo two weeks ago. They had more fun navigating the map and planning out what to see next than looking at the actual animals. So apparently 6 is still not old enough to be interested in the animals. :)
