Holiday Season

We've been fairy busy the last few weeks. So sorry if you are as shocked and appalled as Carter is (see picture below) that we haven't been keeping up. I thought I was getting really good at this whole mothering thing and people told me that kids hit their stride at 3 months. So when the 3 month mark hit and baby boy decided to go on a nursing strike (aka he would scream every time we tried to nurse), our world got turned upside down.
But after a few breakdowns, on both our parts, and a few calls to some professionals, we've come to terms with the problem. Does that mean he eats like he should? Nope, but we've learned how to cope and he hasn't starved to death . . . he's happier playing than eating . . .(he definitely didn't get that trait from me)
We flew out to Chicago to celebrate Thanksgiving. We had a fun time introducing baby Carter to his cousin, though I think Jordan was expecting that cousin Carter was going to be a lot more fun than he was. In fact at one point, Carter was crying in the car and Jordan said "Cousin Carter, stop crying!" It didn't work, so then for the rest of the week Jordan pretended he was a baby and cuddled up to me every time his parents played with Carter, which was perfectly fine with me.
As part of our Thanksgiving festivities, we made our annual gingerbread houses. This year Alicia and Lisa were in charge of it and we made houses that replicated famous buildings from around the world. Isaac and I made the Burj Hotel drawing inspiration from our trip to Dubai earlier this year. We were pretty proud of ourselves. Notice the Emirate couple standing in front (that's for you, Scott and Sophie).
Here are all the creations: The Eiffel Tower, the Burj Hotel, my parents' house and The Salt Lake Temple (if you look closely you can see the traditional gold angel Moroni on the top, my brother pulled out all the stops).
Back to the baby. After a week of fun in Chicago, the baby I brought back was a whole new baby. He liked his week of entertainment and now requires that his mother pay a lot more attention to him. To make sure this happens, he learned how to twist and turn.
Sorry, not done yet. We decorated for Christmas, but realized we were a stocking short, so note the little green sock in between . . .
In the beginning of his life, Carter was not quite a fan of the Baby Bjorn, but he since learned it's the only way to travel.
He also has really enjoyed learning all about sports with his dad. A hobby I hope he continues so his father can finally have someone in the family who can follow his pontifications about the subtle nuances during the many games.
Finally, (congratulations to those of you that made it this far) Carter has a proper outfit for church so he can stop wearing onesies with sayings like "Where you this cute?" and look like a proper young boy. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

That boy looks good in a tie, corduroy completes the outfit. Also liked the people in front of the hotel . . . very talented.

thanks for the update. love it. you keep me laughing. Glad the poor boy isn't starving to death. I bet Luke snuck him a marshmallow and that's all he's wanted since.
